Research Interests

Recent research interests have involved consultation with regional businesses, agencies, or organizations while supervising graduate students in the M.S. in Applied Psychology. Research other than consultation has been primarily associated with complementary and alternative medicines and therapies.

Special Interests and Awards

Tom is co-founder of the UW-Stout Body, Mind and Spirit Conference, an annual conference at UW-Stout on complementary medicines and therapies (http://www.1ness.org/bms/).

Tom has been recognized as the 1994 UW-Stout Outstanding Researcher, in 1997 and 2002 as the recipient of the UW-Stout Cooperative Research Achievement Award, and in 1993 he was the UW-Stout nominee for the UW Regents Teaching Award. In 2003, Tom received the UW-Stout Research Support Recognition Award as part of the Research Advisory Council. In 2004, he received the UW-System Wisconsin Idea Award and the UW-Stout Outstanding Teaching Award.
