All About ETS!

What is Educational Talent Search?

Educational Talent Search is federally funded grant program for college-bound students. ETS provides supportive services to individuals in grades 6-12 who have been underrepresented in the pursuit of higher education. We aim to assist students in completing high school and enrolling in postsecondary education.

What are our goals?

The goal of ETS is to provide supportive services to individuals who have been underrepresented in the pursuit of higher education. Our aim is to assist individuals in completing high school and to enroll in postsecondary education. We are committed to student success and meeting the needs of the individual.

 

What services do we offer?

The ETS program provides students with information and assistance on career and college planning. We provide assistance with: 

• Academic Survival and Study Skills
• Personal Development
• Career Exploration
• Educational and Academic Awareness
• College Application Process
• Connections to tutoring
• Financial Literacy

 

Where do we provide these services?

ETS works in cooperation with selected school districts. Participating districts include:

• Menomonie School District
• Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District

ETS services are free to the district, students and parents.

ETS is located on the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

 

Who is eligible?

We are a program for students who plan to be or have dreams of being college-bound! The Educational Talent Search program is available to individuals referred by teachers, parents, and counselors. The majority of individuals are eligible if they meet one or both of the following guidelines:

• A potential first-generation college student (neither parent graduated from a four year college)
• Limited income

Students are accepted into the program based on need. Our program serves 700 students annually.

Students typically complete an application in 6th grade that spans their time in the program. Should your student be accepted into the program, you will be notified of their acceptance by mail. Because spaces in our program can become available during the school year, and because we intend to fill these spaces, we do not send letters to those not temporarily accepted into the program.
