Diversity Awards

UW System Board of Regents Diversity Award. The $5000 award for professional development or programming recognizes institutional change agents who have established a successful record in fostering greater access and success for students who are members of historically underrepresented populations (including African Americans, American Indians, Latinos/Hispanics, Asian Americans, and Southeast Asians), first-generation and/or economically disadvantaged. By recognizing the exceptional impact these change agents have had on institutional life, this award affirms the Board of Regents' and the UW System's strong commitment to diversity, equity, and excellence. One award will be made in each of three categories--individual, team, and institution/unit. Awarded in August, presented fall semesters. UW-Stout Diversity Awards generally recognize those individuals and groups nominated by Stout for the Regents Diversity Award, though others can apply. The awards use Inclusive Excellence criteria to recognize institutional change agents with documented success in fostering greater access and success in student equity and diversity. The Wisconsin State Council on Affirmative Action: Ann Lydecker Educational Diversity Award and the Diversity Award.

The Ann Lydecker Educational Diversity Award recognizes exceptional efforts made by University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College campuses for their recruitment and retention of a diverse student body and faculty workforce as evidenced by data showing improved outcomes.

The Diversity Award recognizes state agencies, Wisconsin Technical Colleges and University of Wisconsin campuses for their strong commitment to the recruitment, retention and promotion of a diverse classified workforce as measured by the creation and successful efforts to implement programs, initiatives, and practices.

UW-Stout Women and Gender Studies Sheri Nero Award for Best Creative, Analytical, or Applied Project about Women or Gender. For undergraduate or graduate students. Dr. Nero’s record of teaching excellence at UW-Stout, particularly in the area of women and gender studies, inspired this award upon her retirement. Awarded Spring Semesters.
