Biography

Karen Ostenso is a registered dietitian (RD) with over 20 years of clinical experience in both the inpatient, outpatient setting. She was a certified diabetes educator (CDE) for 15 years. Karen enjoyed working one on one with clients and now enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences with students who want to be future dietitians.  Karen also enjoys involvement in projects related to community nutrition, health, and wellness.

Teaching Interests

Undergraduate community and older adult nutrition; general nutrition, professional development; and experiential learning; graduate clinical nutrition; older adult nutrition; and experiences in community practice.

Research Interests

Development of evidenced based public health interventions or initiatives promoting successful aging; community health promotion; dietetic student education; success in the classroom and career development; school-aged nutrition
