Payments, Fees, and Financial Aid

When I try to register for a course, a hold keeps coming up. Why can't I register for a course?

Have you signed and sent in your Payment Plan Agreement? All students must have an original, signed Payment Plan Agreement on file with Student Business Services.

Do you have an outstanding bill? Student Business Services (the Cashier's Office) is responsible for sending out bills for tuition, fees, room and board, and receiving and applying your payments. At UW-Stout, the bill is sent to your Stout email account rather than by paper mail.

My bill has charges that say "graduation fee". What does this mean?

Upon completion of 20 credits, candidates will be billed a one-time, non-refundable, graduation fee of $30.00 for the diploma, diploma cover and other items used in commencement. It does not cover fees for cap and gown, which are available from the University Bookstore. For more information, see the Student Business Service Office home page.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

Credit cards will only be accepted through Access Stout. You will need your student User Name and Password to complete the payment transaction. You can also use a credit card if you are registering for a course through Outreach Services .

If I'm taking courses at more than one school, do they all count towards being full time for financial aid?

All financial aid information can be found at the Financial Aid Office website.

How do I know if I'm eligible for financial aid?

Contact your financial aid counselor directly through email or phone (715-232-1363) to inquire about financial aid resources that may be available to you to help cover your school expenses. Financial Aid counselors are assigned based on the first letter of your last name.
