Placement tests are given in English, Mathematics, and Foreign Languages (Spanish, French and German). The purpose of the placement tests is to provide the university with information to place students at the correct level of academic skills in a particular subject.
Tests Required
Note: New Students attending UW-Stout will not be required to take the Wisconsin Placement Test. Please contact your advisor if you have further questions. Current and Transfer students should also contact their advisor if they have questions regarding the need to take a placement test.

- Regional Placement Testing Dates have now pasted, please see residual testing dates.
- Most UW system freshmen will take these tests during regional placement test dates. The UW Center for Placement Testing administers the tests at sites throughout Wisconsin.
Registration
Registration for the 2007 regional testing program will begin in Feburary, 2007. Check back for exact dates, register on-line at Wisconsin Testing and Evaluation and navigate to the Regional Placement Testing Program. The schedule of testing dates and sites is available at this website, along with the answers to many FAQ's.
Actual registration for the regional placement tests are done on-line at the Wisconsin Testing and Evaluation website.
Residual Testing
Residual placement testing is available for any UW Stout Student not able to complete placement testing during regional dates. There is a $5.00 per test administration fee to take a residual test.(If you take English and Math you would pay $10.00). Please bring cash or check made out to UW-Stout.
Remember to bring a non-graphing calculator, a #2 pencil and know your social security number (not your stout ID). There will be a short break between testing sessions. For test Accommodations, contact Deb Shefchik at Disability Services: 715-232-2995.
