Mission and Values

4 Health of It

What is the 4 Health of It program?

It is a UW-Stout Counseling Center program that works to provide self-help information and services to the UW-Stout community. This program has targeted the four most common areas of health stressors for the campus community including:

  • Stress Management and Maintaining a Healthy Mood
  • Maintaining and Building Healthy Relationships
  • Maintaining and Building Healthy Eating and Exercise Routines
  • Alcohol and Drug Education

The Counseling Center offers a variety of hands on seminars, classes and discussions for campus members based on the above list of topics.

How is it a different kind of program?

This program is unique in that each step is catered to prevention versus treatment. It appeals to a wide audience and provides a de-stigmatized way for individuals to receive information and act on information without the pressure or shame that can sometimes be associated with seeking treatment.

It is also designed to allow campus members the opportunity in meeting others who might be dealing with the same stressors and build supportive networks within the campus community. 4 the Health of It is a program that understands how stressful college can be and provides help and services for a better and healthier college experience!

What does it mean for you, the student?

It will help to improve the following areas:

  • Grade point average Investment in college
  • Successful completion of college
  • Awareness of whole-body health
  • Sleep habits
  • Confidence in relationship/ conflict confrontation
  • It will also help to decrease the prevalence of reported:
  • Alcohol/drug abuse
  • Acute stress and mood disorders
  • Relationship violence

This means that we can provide UW-Stout students with the abilities and resources to take care of their mental health in the same way that they would take care of their physical health.
