Extended bio of Jeanne Rothaupt

Jeanne Rothaupt, Ph.D., LMFT - Associate Director, Training Coordinator

Jeanne is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has worked in a variety of counseling/therapy positions since 1998. After graduating from UW-Stout with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1998, Jeanne worked for Lutheran Social Services as the outcome coordinator and providing in-home family therapy. Jeanne accepted a position at the University Counseling Center in 2000 as a therapist. She also completed her certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and became an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor.

In 2003 Jeanne left the University Counseling Center to pursue doctoral work in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Wyoming. During that time she completed research studies in areas of counselor mindfulness practices, counselor supervision, and grief and loss. She also completed internships at the University Counseling Center, Dean of Student’s Office, and University of Wyoming. She returned to UW-Stout in 2005 as a full-time instructor and joined the faculty ranks in January, 2007. In 2010 Jeanne came full circle, leaving her faculty role and rejoining the Counseling Center as a therapist, Employee Assistance Program coordinator and outreach coordinator.

As a counselor/therapist, Jeanne has special interests and training in trauma, anger management, stress and coping, eating disorders and self-harm, and wellness. She has taught a variety of undergraduate courses in the Human Development and Family Studies program and graduate classes for the Marriage and Family Therapy program. She has also published research articles on grief and loss, counselor experiences with mindfulness, and the transition to parenting. She has also presented nationally and internationally on student engagement, transformative learning, grief and loss, and other topics.

Jeanne is married and has two adult children. Her interests include visiting with family and friends, cooking, canoeing and kayaking, skiing and working on the cabin.
