University of Wisconsin - Stout

Home

This page is the future home on the web of CNERVE, a program in the design stages here at UW-Stout. Our principal goals are as follows:

  1. Create a technology-integrated program in cognitive-neuroscience at UW-Stout, focused particularly on integrating psychophysiological measurement technology into the undergraduate curriculum
  2. Create a unified core of researchers here at UW-Stout, all of whom seek to use psychophysiological techniques to answer basic questions about the physiological correlates of cognitive and behavioral phenomena.
  3. Create an opportunity to reach out to disadvantaged high school students in Wisconsin, and give them exposure to some of the excitement of cognitive-neuroscience.

Illustrates the three integrated theoretical perspectives of modern cognitive neuroscience:

Surface (psychological perspective),

Underworld (physiological perspective), and

Outworld (evolutionary perspective)

Apparently separate perspectives that are in fact all necessary for complete explanations of psychological phenomena.
