How Do I Join?

Students become member by joining the chapter at the school where they are enrolled.  Psi Chi chapters are operated by student officers and faculty advisors.  Together they select and induct the members and carry out the goals of the Society.  Because the officers and faculty advisors are volunteers and their time is limited, anyone interested in joining Psi Chi should take the initiative and contact the psychology department, the faculty advisor, and/or the local officers.

Here at UW-Stout, an interested person can contact the faculty advisor, Dr. Helen Swanson, at (715) 232-2784 or through email: swansonh@uwstout.edu

All chapters register their inductees at the Psi Chi National Office, where the membership records are preserved for reference purposes.  The total number of members recorded at the National Office during the first 70 years is over 360,000; many of these members have gone on into distinguished careers in psychology.

  • There is a one-time fee of $50.00, which includes the $35.00 National Psi Chi organization dues, and the $15.00 chapter dues.
  • The Chapter dues go towards funding for various speakers and activities
