The Department of Psychology at UW-Stout is responsible for three academic degree programs and a variety of courses serving other academic degrees.

Since 1966 B.A. in Psychology degrees have been conferred at UW-Stout. The department is proud of this longevity and the distinction of being the only B.A. degree program on campus. The B.A. program has a stable enrollment of 300-320 undergraduate students, making the program the fourth largest program at UW-Stout. The 120 credit program is designed around the APA standards for learning outcomes.

In 1995 the M.S. in Applied Psychology was implemented by the department with concentrations in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Health Psychology, and Program Evaluation. Graduates of the MSAP are enjoying challenging, well-paid careers. The survey reported in The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist in July 2004 ranked the MSAP program in the top twenty I/O masters’ degree programs in the nation for program culture, a measure of collaboration among students and with professors, and for program costs.

In addition to our degree programs, the Department of Psychology serves the university with a variety of general and professional courses. About 80% of UW-Stout students take at least one psychology course each year. The department also offers both a minor and a professional development certificate in Human Resource Management.

Our full-time and adjunct faculty are focused on providing quality instruction, basic and applied research, and professional service both on and off campus.
