University of Wisconsin - Stout

 

Purpose

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor's Leadership Development Award for Women is an investment in women who have demonstrated outstanding performance and show promise for continued leadership contributions to UW-Stout.

Award

One or more female faculty/staff member(s) per year may be funded to attend a significant leadership development opportunity such as the HERS Program; Bryn Mawr Summer Leadership Institute for Women; the Center for Creative Leadership: Women's Leadership Program; the Harvard Institute for Higher Education: Professional Development Programs; the ACE Fellows Program; or other similar programs as approved by the Chancellor's Office.

(Note: Tuition for bachelor's, master's or Ph.D. is not eligible.)

Eligibility

The faculty/staff member must be employed full-time at UW-Stout and currently be engaged in administrative leadership pursuits, which contribute to the UW-Stout academic mission.

 

Funding

The goal of this program is to cover the cost of registration, travel, lodging and meals related to the individual leadership program.  University funds shall cover 75% of the associated costs and the remaining 25% will be a match from the department and/or college (or equivalent). During participation in the program, the staff member's current salary remains the same as before, without overload payment nor penalty to salary.

The two page application must include the following information:

  1. Describe your past, current and potential contributions in leadership at UW-Stout.

  2. Identify the specific program being applied for; describe the rationale for selecting this program and the anticipated impact on campus.  Please indicate the dates of the program.  (For planning purposes, it is anticipated that the participation in the program may be one or two years out)

Additional attachments to application:

  1. One-page budget proposal listing the program, registration cost, expected travel expenses and cost-sharing arrangements.  Please indicate the source of match funding. 
  2. One-page vita
  3. Leadership Program brochure
  4. A letter from your Supervisor indicating their support of the application.

 

Selection Process

  1. The Chancellor, in consultation with members of the Chancellor's Cabinet, will determine the selection.

  2. An applicant's attendance at the selected program is further contingent upon the acceptance of their application into the specific leadership program.

 

Report

A written report will be submitted to the Chancellor, the appropriate division head and Research Services, followed by a presentation to Chancellor's Advisory Council.

 

Change of Procedures

The Chancellor, with advice from appropriate organizations or individuals, may modify the emphasis and size of the award.
