Jim Handley

Jim Handley is a geographer with expertise in Geographic information science and economic geography.  Before coming to UW-Stout, he served as the Director of the Center for Geographic Information Science at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.  He has worked as a GIS professional for over ten years for land use planning agencies, universities, and for the Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center.

 

Mr. Handley is an ESRI Authorized Instructor and regularly facilitates GIS workshops.  He has worked with a wide variety of groups including business leaders, environmental scientists, and K-12 teachers on using GIS.

 

Mr. Handley’s current research focuses on Fair Trade agricultural cooperatives and their role in community development, specifically in Guatemala.  He currently teaches geography and is helping develop UW-Stout’s new GIS program.
