The Writing Center offers free help to UW-Stout students with writing assignments for any class. Writers at all skill levels are welcome!

- "Strategies for Success" workshops for students on a variety of topics, including: succeeding in freshman composition, incorporating research and avoiding plagiarism, and preparing for and completing essay exams

Goals/Objectives for Tutorials
- Offer courteous and confidential assistance to all writers at all skill levels
- Successfully address the concerns of each writer
- Enhance the skills and confidence of writers
- Enable writers to independently apply the skills/concepts learned in tutorials
Client Policies/Procedures
Scheduling Appointments
- Please call 232-5284 to schedule a tutorial; because we have a limited number of available appointments per week, please call ahead.
- You may schedule one 60 minute or two 30 minute tutorials per week.
- If you must cancel an appointment, please call to notify the Center staff.
- If you skip three scheduled appointments, you will lose your privilege to use the Center for the semester.
Tutorials
- All tutorials are confidential; you can decide whether or not to send your instructor a note informing him/her of your visit.
- Our tutors are trained to assist you in any stage of the writing process - pre-writing, drafting, revising, and editing; however, tutors will not edit or write your paper for you.
- Please bring with you to each tutorial:
- Two hard copies of your draft (please note: the Center does not have a printer)
- Your laptop
- A copy of the assignment sheet/prompt for the paper you're working on
- An idea of what you want to address and accomplish in the tutorial
