The following list was compiled from the variety of things employers do to recruit students at UW-Stout:
- Recruit on campus
- On your recruitment day arrange to meet for lunch with key faculty/staff.
- Conduct a "Company Open House" on campus the night before your interviews - invite students from all grade levels!
- Three weeks before your scheduled campus interview consider doing the following:
- Access resume book on Stout CareerLink of qualified students and personally contact those who are not signed-up to interview with you and invite them to your open house and/or campus interview.
- Contact selected faculty to speak in classes and solicit their support in making students aware of your open house and campus interview.
- Contact student organizations related to your industry to speak at a meeting and/or to make them aware of your scheduled open house and campus interview. Call the Student Organization Center at (715) 232-2440.
- Hire a Co-op student every semester. Consider doing the following:
- Use returning Co-op students as your ambassadors on campus to help build future student sign-ups.
- Provide or facilitate housing for co-op students.
- Pay Co-op tuition fee.
- Provide competitive wages and benefits.
- Attend the annual Career Conference that takes place in October. Call 715-232-1602.
- Volunteer to participate in "Mock Interview Days" in the spring semester
- Establish relationships with key university personnel and maintain on-going communication.
- Contact Alumni for higher level positions
- Request names, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of students broken down by major and/or grade level from the Registration and Records office (715-232-2121).
- Sponsor scholarships or donate equipment/supplies targeted to specific majors or departments.
- Create a faculty/staff externship
- Conduct videoconferencing information sessions
- Advertise in STOUTONIA - campus newspaper. Call (715) 232-2272.
- Provide company tailored multi-colored posters that can be posted around campus prior to your visit.
