Our History

The LGBTQ Program Office opened in October 2008 with the hiring of the first LGBTQ Program Coordinator. Since that time, a number of new programs and initiatives have been launched to provide increased support and resources for LGBTQ students and their many allies at UW-Stout.

The Qube opened in January 2013.  It is UW-Stout’s headquarters for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning (LGBTQ) students & our allies. Peer support staff are always available to answer questions, provide assistance, or direct you to services.  You can stop in to explore our resources, including magazines, books, DVD’s and informational resources on a variety of coming out and identity issues. Qube resources can be checked out by anyone in the campus community, including students who need information for class papers or projects, and faculty or staff who want to increase their LGBTQ i.q. Our lounge space is available to meet up with other students, study, watch television, and relax. This is a safe space and home to educational and social programming, as well as Open Door, our campus LGBTQ discussion and support group.
