On Campus Students

The Baseline Plan is designed for students living in the residence halls.  The plan provides for service of contracted cafeteria meals at two University Dining Service (UDS) facilities listed below.  Students on the plan may eat at either campus location and will receive the special Baseline pricing at both locations.

  • Price Commons - South Campus primary dining location for these residence halls:  South, North, Hansen, Keith, Milnes, Chinnock, Curran, Kranszusch, Tustison, Oetting, McCalmont, Antrim, and Froggatt.

What Baseline Plan is Best for You?

It is suggested that you select the plan which comes closest to your needs but does not exceed them. You can deposit additional funds throughout the semester.Unused Baseline funds do carry forward for use the next semester.

When choosing a plan, consider how often you will eat in the cafeteria dining location, and how often you may be eating outside the cafeteria at our ala carte (items priced individually) locations.

Based on a recent typical semester of activity, on average, a student spends $186 for cafeteria meals at the reduced price and $124 for dining at ala cart locations. This is a total of $310 per semester. This is an amount between Plan 2 and Plan 3. Students who consider themselves average may want to start with plan 2 or 3. Where you dine is the most important factor besides frequency of dining when you select  a plan. Dining at cafeteria meals, in Commons and at North Point the majority of the time, is the most economical use of the plan.

The table below can assist you in estimating the appropriate level of dining funds. To use, enter the number of times a week you may eat at each cafeteria meal. Then extend this for the 15 weeks of the semester and add up the total. Next add on the estimated ala cart purchases you anticipate.

Baseline Plus Funds

All residence hall students are given the option to deposit funds as Baseline Plus Funds at the start of, and throughout, the semester.

"Plus" funds allow students to make purchases at many additional on-campus locations outside of dining.  A number of non-food purchases are made by students for items such as books/supplies, laundry facilities, computer lab work, copies, recreation, etc.

How are purchases made?

For each meal or ala carte purchase you present your Stout OneCard where the appropriate amount will be electronically subtracted from your account.  Your Baseline account balance will be displayed each time a purchase is made.

  • Stout OneCards are non-transferable for your protection.

May you treat guests in dining locations using your Baseline Plan?

Yes, you may treat guests using your Baseline account funds.  In the cafeterias the guests' charge will be based on their Baseline Plan participation or non-participation.  The guest must possess and present a valid Stout OneCard in order to verify plan participation.  If the guest is not a plan holder their charges will be at the special guest price in the cafeteria.

What other campus dining locations accept Baseline Plan Funds?
