University of Wisconsin - Stout

Electronic publishing and copy preparation services are provided by Printing Services. These services are provided to UW-Stout units on a charge back basis using department requisitions. Printing Services also provides these same services to individual faculty, staff and students on a cash basis. The service is Postscript-based, and uses both Macintosh and Intel compatible equipment.

Office staff are able to work with customers at their comfort level. They will start with manuscript copy if necessary, or can import text files from disks, e-mail or the Internet. Also, staff can "polish up" the complete page prepared in any of several Postscript page assembly programs.

The printing manager sends most of the “product” to printers as PDFs or as files on cdroms. However, some of it is delivered to the Duplicating Center. The printing manager works closely with the Duplicating Center to produce printed materials with the highest quality appropriate to meet the customer's needs at the lowest possible cost.

Macintosh and PC computers are used. The office has scanners for OCR, flat bed graphic scanning in gray scale and color, and 35 mm slide scanning. It is also able to provide color proofs using a Ricoh 5000 color printer.

The office adheres to the UW-Stout Identity Policy 90-52.

The office charges an hourly rate for service. Upon arrival or completion of printed jobs, you will be notified the project is complete. Departments may either pick up their items, or request deliver at no charge.
