Brian Bee (Sr, Bloomer) went the distance against the 28th ranked Oles, but needed an offensive explosion from the Blue Devils in the bottom of the sixth for the win. After surrendering solo runs in the second and fifth, Stout (6-5) scored all of their runs in the sixth.

JOPLIN, Mo - On a bitterly cold MIssouri afternoon, UW-Stout blasted conference opponent UW-Superior, 12-1, then lost to host Missouri Southern, 7-4, Thursday, March 21, in Joplin, Mo.

With the temperature hovering near 35 degrees and a wind howling around 20 miles per hour, the Blue Devils (5-4) had little trouble with the Yellowjackets, who were returning home from a trip to Texas, by pounding out 13 hits.

Matt Lunde (Sr, Eau Claire) picked up his third win in as many starts by allowing one run on two hits in six innings of work. Lunde struckout four and walked one.

Scott DePorter (So, Whitewater) had three RBI and joined five other Blue Devils with two hits apiece. JW Dachel (Sr, Bloomer) and Adam Acker (Jr, Minnetonka, Minn) collected two RBI while Greg Meinertz (Fr, La Crosse), Brad Barneson (Sr, Strum) and Brock Meyer (Jr, Lyle, Minn) each had two hits.

Rothenbuhler recorded three strikeouts, but also gave up three walks and hit two batters.

Jon Kroening (So, Ladysmith) wielded the big bat for the Blue Devils, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. Kroening drove in Nick Kalina (Sr, Potosi) in both the first and second innings, then had a solo shot to right field in the fifth. Meyer drove in Stout's other run in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils used three big innings to down Huron University, 18-5, in the opener, then dropped their first game of the season as Pittsburg State scored four runs in the sixth inning to down Stout, 5-2, in the second game.

JW Dachel (Sr, Bloomer) picked up his second home run of the season in Stout's (3-1) win over Huron, this time a bases loaded grand slam in the fourth inning to lift Stout to an 8-2 lead. Justin Biever (Jr, South Milwaukee) had two hits and an RBI, while Scott DePorter (So, Whitewater) delivered a double. Stout smashed out eight hits to Pittsburg's four, but the Blue Devils committed two costly errors.

BLUE DEVILS PERFECT IN EXHIBITION SWING THROUGH BAHAMAS

NASSAU, BAHAMAS - UW-Stout went 8-0 on their spring break trip to the Bahamas. All of the Blue Devils' games were considered exhibition games.

In acknowledging the competition was not as strong as Stout usually faces during their annual spring break trips, fourth year coach Chris Stainer was able to do things on the field perhaps a regular season schedule would not have allowed.

"While the competition was not as tough," Stainer said, "we were able to try a lot of different combinations."

Stainer was pleased with her pitching staff, stating that left handed Leslie Barkin (Fr, Buffalo Grove, Ill) proved to be a "true gamer."

Stout batted well over .400 as a team, but Stainer is still looking to name a starting line-up for when the Blue Devils open at Winona State, Thursday, March 28.

Kim Caswell (So, Stanley) was strong at shortstop, Stainer said, and Heather Novalany (Fr, Cottage Grove, Minn) proved very able to second base after Sarah Kokke (Sr, Galesville) went down to an injury.

"The competition at several positions is still too close," Stainer said. "We are coming back on a positive note, but it will be good to have strong competition. That will force us to step up."
