ASPIRE's Student Advisory and Programming (ASAP) Leadership Team


Student Support Services-ASPIRE is developing a new student leadership team.  The ASAP Leadership Team members will have the opportunity to –

  • develop leadership skills and your resume at the same time!
  • attend a weekend leadership conference
  • make a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plans for the ASAP Leadership Team

Meet weekly or bi-weekly to establish the ASAP Leadership Team and to assist with setting program goals, publication and marketing, logistics (current events/activities), plan future activities. Potential examples:

  • SSS-ASPIRE programming design, facilitation and technology
  • Attend the first fall leadership conference in October
  • Assist with SSS-ASPIRE activities and events
  • Develop a product designed to encourage first semester freshman to continue their SSS-ASPIRE connection into their second semester and beyond
  • Review the ASPIRE Website and otehr publications
  • Help to define the purpose of the group and the future of the Student Leadership Team

We appreciate everyone’s interest in the ASAP initiative and are impressed with your feedback and interest in shaping the program and advancing the ASPIRE goals for fellow students.  Those who attended the leadership retreat, as well as many others, are contributing a great deal to this new initiative.

 

Through your efforts, we have learned a lot this semester.  It is time now to regroup and refine our efforts.  Please note the schedule for the rest of the year.  We are not meeting this week or the week of Thanksgiving.  The following weeks include activities as noted on the calendar.  (More information will follow.)

At our December 11 meeting we will develop subcommittees with the intention of meeting in subcommittees twice a month and as a full committee once a month.   Hopefully, a committee schedule will accommodate those who have expressed interest but been unable to attend a weekly meeting due to the time commitment or scheduling conflicts.

2008 Organizational Concept Proposal

1.     Full Committee

The full committee will meet once monthly for updates, fun and fellowship, team building.  The committees may have some initiatives that overlap so this will be a good time to keep all members up to speed on committee progress.

 2.     Subcommittee A 

Activities and Events Subcommittee,  Staff Liaison - Sharon Franklin.  Subcommittees will meet twice a month in a regular meeting format.  Other meetings will be planned as the committee deems necessary to work on projects, meet with staff liaison etc.

 3.      Subcommittee B

Marketing and Technology Subcommittee, Staff Liaison – Sharon Franklin.  Subcommittees will meet twice a month in a regular meeting format.  Other meetings will be planned as the committee deems necessary to work on projects, meet with staff liaison etc.

4.     Leadership Team

The leadership team will consist of the staff liaison (Franklin) and a student leader from each team.
