| ALCOHOL BEVERAGES IN NON-INSTRUCTIONAL SETTINGS
1.0 BACKGROUND
2.2 All alcohol beverage services must be requested through and approved by the Director of the Memorial Student Center or designate. 2.3 Alcohol beverages will be served only at such times and conditions consistent with local, state, and federal regulations governing such service. 2.4 Non-alcohol beverages and food must be available where alcohol beverages are served. 2.5 All alcohol beverages must be consumed within the room in which they are sold, catered, or served. 2.6 Functions which permit attendance of underage individuals must provide a separate room for the serving and consuming of alcohol beverages.
3.2 It is the responsibility of University Dining Services and University Security to make proper identification of persons eligible to be on the premises and to purchase or consume alcohol beverages. Proof of age will be required at functions where alcohol beverages are served. The type of identification required will be the official Wisconsin I.D. or driver's license with picture. 3.3 The university reserves the right to refuse service to any individual. These rights are subject to state and federal regulations.
4.2 Alcohol beverages may be provided at scheduled dining receptions, in conjunction with scheduled dinners, in dining rooms where waiter service is provided, and for other events as deemed appropriate. 4.3 Under ordinary circumstances, alcohol beverages will be catered or sold on a cash, by-the-drink basis except that wines by-the-bottle or carafe, alcohol punches, and beer by-the-pitcher may be furnished at appropriate functions. 4.4 Alcohol beverages may be served only in those areas in campus buildings having appropriate and adequate facilities for the service of alcohol beverages and for the control of persons to be served.
Sponsors are expected to maintain responsible standards concerning the use of alcohol beverages at the event. Any use leading to offensive behavior or disorderly conduct will result in the immediate dismissal of service to the individual(s) involved or to the sponsoring group. Further disciplinary action may be taken if necessary. 5.2 State and federal laws prohibit the resale of alcohol beverages for profit except by the licensee and tax stamp holder. Therefore, proceeds from the sale of wine, beer, or alcohol cannot be returned to the sponsoring organization by the university under any circumstances. 5.3 The length of time of alcohol beverage service shall be determined between the sponsoring organization and the director of the Memorial Student Center or designate. |
