Committee Name UW-Stout Safety and Workers Compensation Committee
Purpose/Charge The purpose of this committee is to promote the safety and welfare of employees through the reduction of workplace accidents and injuries, thereby minimizing workers compensation costs.
Goals/Objectives
  1. Promote safety communication and training throughout the campus.
  2. Provide an opportunity for the discussion of health and safety problems, preventative measures, and possible solutions.
  3. Review safety inspection reports and appropriate information on workplace accidents and injuries.
Committee Supervisor Vice Chancellor for ASLS 
Committee Chair Appointed by the Vice Chancellor for ASLS
Committee Membership Representatives from each of the following worker groups:
  • Campus Member-at-Large (1)
  • Supervisory Employee (1)
  • Custodians from Physical Plant & Student Life Services (2)
  • Maintenance Workers from Physical Plant & Student Life Services (2)
  • Food Service Workers (1)
  • Crafts worker (1)
  • Clerical Worker (1)
  • Academic Department Representatives (2)
Committee Terms
  1. Representatives will be appointed by the Vice Chancellor - ASLS for two-year terms, staggered so that approximately one-half of the terms expire each June 30th.  Nominations will be requested from division administrators.
  2. Terms are renewable at the discretion of the nominating and appointing bodies.
  3. New committee members will begin appointments effective July 1st.

Method of Communication Agendas and minutes are published for each meeting.  The chair prepares and distributes the agenda in advance of meetings.  A committee member appointed by the chair records meeting minutes.  Agendas and minutes are sent to all committee members and to the Vice Chancellor - ASLS.
Timetable The committee chair will provide six-month and annual reports to the Vice Chancellor - ASLS.
Boundaries The committee is recommending to the supervisor.
Training/Information Needed Annual training on an effective campus safety committee will be provided.
