Alumni Director – Development Officer


A member of the University of Wisconsin System, UW-Stout serves approximately 9,300 students in 20 graduate and 52 undergraduate programs. Alumni Director – Development Officer


The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic university alumni program designed to promote a lifelong connection between UW-Stout and its alumni, thus providing engagement opportunities for alumni, increasing financial support and enhancing UW-Stout’s overall reputation.  The Director oversees planning and execution of alumni events, reunions and special programs; coordinates alumni-related publications; develops effective communication plans for alumni and other constituents; and also oversees the alumni program budget.  The Director has a dual role as a development officer and plays an integral part in University Advancement’s fundraising team.  Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Marketing, the Director is liaison to the Alumni Association Board of Directors and works closely with the Stout University Foundation.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Professional experience in alumni relations, event management, volunteer management, or in
  • related field such as public relations, marketing, communications, or fundraising
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and engage alumni, constituents and donors
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Thorough knowledge of fundraising principles and methods and strong desire to seek financial support for UW-Stout
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with the ability to use database, spreadsheet, word processing and specialized software applications
  • Travel is required as well as ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary


  • 3-5 years of experience in alumni relations, event management or volunteer management
  • 2 or more years of experience and demonstrated success in annual or major gift fundraising
  • Demonstrated record of increasing levels of management responsibility and experience
  • Demonstrated record of leadership success in recruiting, motivating and engaging nonprofit board in support of mission and strategic goals
  • Alumnus/a of UW-Stout or working knowledge of similar institution


This is a full-time, 12-month, annually renewable academic professional appointment. The position is available immediately, and the salary is commensurate with experience. Annual renewals are contingent upon a successful performance review, continuing need for the position, and availability of funds. This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Marketing.
