Graig J Kubista ('00) and Rebekah A Page Kubista ('00)My husband (Graig Kubista) and I met at UW-Stout in August 1996. I was an RA in Hovlid Hall, and he was part of the freshman orientation committee. We were friendly with each other, but were not attracted to each other in the least. In fact, I started a crush on the guy in the room next door to him, and he had a crush on a gal that resided on my floor.
I finally started dating the guy that lived next to Graig in October 1996. It last a full two-weeks. During Home Coming weekend my best friend from High School (Tammy) came to visit. As I was spilling my story and shedding a few tears over my short-lived romance with the guy from 4th floor, Graig walked by my open dorm room door. And then he turned back and popped his head in. He said that it looked as if I could use some cheering up, so he encouraged Tammy and I to join him, his room mate, and his room mates girlfriend for a movie. Needless to say, we had a great time.
The next morning after breakfast, Tammy and I ran into Graig in the stairwell. She encouraged me to ask him to ride along with me to Eau Claire to run some errands. He accepted the invite, and the rest as they say is history. Graig proposed to me on October 16, 1997. We drove up to Duluth, MN and we took a carriage ride along the lake shore at sunset. In couldn't have been anymore romantic! Of course, I said yes.
We were married November 21, 1998. (Several members of our wedding party - including the gal Graig had once had a crush on - were Stout students.) We moved into town and lived amongst the locals as we settled into life as married college students. We lived only blocks from the Menomonie Alliance Church. They were such a blessing to us as we adjusted to married life. We finished off our last three semesters of college, and said a tearful good-bye to our alma matter and our friendships to head to Sheboygan County, WI where we have resided for the past 8.5 years. We recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. This caused us to pause and reflect on the many blessings God provided over the years, including our time as students at UW-Stout. We will always treasure our memories of late night study sessions, working as RAs, and our caffeine fixes at Acoustic Cafe.
Thanks for the opportunity to share our "love" story.
God Bless,
Graig & Rebekah (Page) Kubista

Jessica Marie Munzel Shepard ('03) and Chad Michael Shepard ('03)Chad and I met the first day of our freshman year in 99. We were attending one of those get to know each other/motivational speaker events at the field house and you had to find someone to dance with back to back with the same color shirt on. So we starting dancing, and when the music stopped you were suppose to switch partners. Everyone switched so fast that we just kept dancing together. Then we ended up in the same group after that where you had to act something out about your self. I thought he was really cute, but I figured I would never see him again since I lived on North Campus. The next day our R.A.'s took us tubing and canoeing down the river, and there we saw each other again. We ended up tubing next to each other the whole time getting to know each other. We also found out we both lived in Hovlid; him on the 1st floor and me on the 2nd. That night we went to our first party together and we were together ever since. We both graduated in 2003 and were planning our wedding for July 04, when Chad suddenly got called to duty in Iraq. We had a quick wedding in April 04 before he left. Chad returned safe in Oct. 05. We then had our big wedding that we had been planning in April of 06. We now live in Daytona Beach, Fl while Chad is receiving his Masters at Embry Riddle in Systems and Engineering. No babies for another year or two. We have so many memories at Stout and had some of the best years of our lives.

Erin Marie Wegner Wachtendonk ('03) and David Alan Wachtendonk ('03)Dave and I met our Junior years at Stout- Fall 2002. We met at a mutual friend's birthday party, which Dave and his roommates were hosting. I had seen him on campus before, because of his business- Ecollegeoutfitters.com- he sold sweatshirts and t-shirts on campus, but I had never met him. We ended talking and hanging out the whole night and exchanged numbers. He called that week and the rest is history! We both graduated in May 2003 and moved to Irvine, CA for my job- Foodservice Sales with Hormel Foods. Since then we've lived in Pittsburgh, PA, got married in Wisconsin in October 2004, moved to Austin, MN, and our latest move was to Chicago, IL in June 2006- all with Hormel. Dave owns his own business- Murder Mystery Maniacs and is a successful entreprenuer. Our most exciting news lately- we're expecting our first child in early July 2008!

Leah Cathyrn Altman Bublitz ('04) and Scott Andrew Bublitz ('05)Scott and I met my last semester at Stout, in January 2004. It was before classes had started up yet, so not many people were back from winter break yet. I was out at the Flame with a few close friends, celebrating the beginning of my last semester at Stout. I spotted Scott from across the room, and said to my friend Jacky "See that guy over there? That is the kind of guy I want to date." Well, she grabbed my hand and said "It's done!" I was mortified and didn't know what she would say. Somehow she found something to talk about with Scott and all his friends and ended up introducing Scott and I. Later in the evening, I saw Scott again, and he gave me his number. We began dating shortly after that! I went on to graduate in May 2004, leaving Scott behind. We had a long distance relationship, until Scott graduated in May 2005. We got married on August 25, 2007!

Nicole K. Westvig Stephany ('04) and Christopher Stephany ('04)Nicole K. Stephany ('04) and Christopher R. Stephany ('04)
Chris and I met at Stout our first year. After much persuasion from friends, we started dating our junior year at Stout. I knew right away that he was "the one" when I found out that he loved being on the water just as much as I do. We kept that throughout our dating years and finally got married almost 5 years later on the St.Croix River in Stillwater, where Chris could look at his home state of Wisconsin.

Paul Weiss ('06) and Kelly Thorson Weiss ('05)Paul and I arrived at Stout already a serious couple. Our daughter and son were born during our college years, and went to Stout too (the Child and Family Study Center). We decided to get married, at the urging of one of my favorite professors, when Paul was called to active military duty and was on his way to Iraq. I finished my undergraduate degree in Vocational Rehabilitation while he was overseas. A year and a half later he returned home and finished his last semester at Stout as well, in Applied Math and Computer Science. We are now living happily ever after in Marshfield. The moral of the story? Listen to the professors!

Josh J Wolfgang ('07) and Danielle R Bleck Wolfgang ('07)Josh and I were introduced by a mutual friend who Josh met one of his first years of college and who was one of my co-workers at the time. She wanted to introduce me to her friend who she thought I would get along well with. We met one night in the residence hall I was working in at the time at UW-Stout and played ping pong against each other. After that night Josh and I and his friend Laura (the person who introduced us) started hanging out more regularly and then shortly after that we started dating. We went out the last 2 years of college and got engaged within the year after the two of us graduated. Josh took me up in a hot air balloon and then popped the question. On September 20, 2008 we got married in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and currently are living in Aurora, IL.
