Paul Nesja ('90) and Christy Cornue Nesja ('91)

We met in the Alfresco Outing Club in the fall of 1988, and stared dating after a canoe trip down the Brule River in late April 1989. We’ve been in love ever since! We were married on October 2, 1993, and now have two beautiful boys. Chris is 8 ½ and Daniel is 6. We plan to take them canoeing on the Brule River in the near future.

Scott Everson ('92) and Jennifer Szyba Everson ('93)

Scott and I met in the dorms. My friend Kerri and I were visiting a male friend in another dorm, but he wasn’t home. His roommate was though with a friend of his from the floor- Scott. He said “hi” when we were introduced and then insulted me. I was wearing a banana clip and he asked why I had a monkey’s tail on my head. What a jerk I thought, but he grew on me.

Christopher Hipskind ('92) and Debbie Plessel Hipskind ('92)

We met during an Alfresco Outing Club trip to Devil’s Lake. We became really good friends. Then Debbie invited Chris to her home for Thanksgiving and we have been together ever since.

Jennifer L Landas ('92) and John R Landas ('92)

We actually met 3 years after we graduated. We met while visiting Stout at homecoming. We had a lot of the same friends and graduated the same time, but didn’t actually meet until 3 years later. We both still like to go to homecoming as often as we can. Incidentally, Scott’s parents met each other while attending Stout. A family tradition I guess.

Scott Reindl ('92) and Lisa Albertson Reindl ('92)

Thanks to my second roommate my freshman year, I was introduced to my husband -they had gone to high school together. The Commons was a nice place to meet for a Chicken Sandwich at PM - perfectly located between his home at South Hall and mine at North Hall. I'm carrying on a family tradition as my parents also met at Stout. Hopefully our son will meet his bride his freshman year in the fall of 2020!

Steve Schalig ('92) and Mary Follensbee ('91)

I was a freshman in the Fall of 1988. I had just met my roommate in our dorm room when there was a knock on the door. We opened it to find a cute blond and brunette. They told us they had been assigned to give us a tour of the campus as part of our freshman orientation. Unbeknownst to me, the blonde (Mary Follensbee, class of 91) went back to her room and told her roommate that she was going to marry me. Fast forward; we married in 1992 and our 15th anniverary is right around the corner.

Tod De Main ('93) and Amy Berg De Main ('92)

It was freshmen orientation, the summer of 1987. I walked into a room with a large table with about 10 or 12 other nervous freshmen around it. We were all psychology majors brought together to select classes. I saw this really cute guy sitting alone. I sat across from him. I was too nervous to talk to him, but I really wanted to see him again. I decided that I would look at his class selections and choose all the same courses, that way I could see him again. I came out of that room and told my mom that I had just seen the cutest guy. The first day of classes rolled around. I walked into my first class. I saw the cute guy. Of course I found a seat near him. We didn’t talk, but I had a plan. My next class came around. There he was again! This time I walked over to him and said, “Hey, weren’t you in my general Psych class?” The day went on and we sat next to each other in every class. The “cute guy” was Tod. We became really good friends. We were both dating other people at the time. Out friendship lasted through Tod moving to Vegas for a year. We kept in touch. Tod ended up coming back to Stout. Unfourtunately, I was in a serious relationship at the time. I transferred to UW Oshkosh to be with my boyfriend. We continued to keep in touch. One summer weekend, Tod invited me to come visit him. The first night I was there, Tod professed his love for me. He explained how he knew from the first day we met that I was “the one.” I felt that same. I left my boyfriend and returned to Stout with the cute guy I met at orientation. The rest is history. We married in 1993 and now have 2 beautiful children.

William Rarup ('93) and Suzanna Buss Rarup ('92)

We met through a mutual friend/classmate. Her roommate and I were in the same English class and were assigned as partners on a project for the class. We spent a lot of time working together on the project. It just so happened that we all lived in Fleming Hall. Her roommate introduced me to my future wife. We started dating and found out that we had mutual friends in common which was really funny because we had never met before. After dating for about a year and a half, I asked her one evening via sign language, all she could do was keep asking if I was kidding. When I reassured her I wasn’t, she accepted my marriage proposal. We went looking for rings and I secretly purchased the one she wanted and presented it to her about a week after I proposed. We were married about a year later (February 14, 1990) in Menomonie and several of our friends stood up for us. We will celebrate our 16th anniversary this year with our 5 year old daughter. (As a side note to all of this, her roommate married another student who just happened to reside in Fleming Hall in the same room I had. It’s a small world when it comes to love and Fleming Hall.)

JJ Levenske ('95) and Kelli Adamson Levenske ('94)

We met at Stout while working together at Fanny Hill in Eau Claire. We remained friends (never dated) over the years and stayed in touch while in different parts of the country. We ended up moving back to Minneapolis (both of us) and started hanging out… the rest is history. We moved “up north” to enjoy the good life and married in 2000 on the ski slopes of Lake Tahoe. We have one son, Coltan who is 3 ½ years old. Both of us went on to further education after Stout. We are looking forward to attending homecoming some year!

Tricia S Foxwell Oberdas ('97) and Cory J Oberdas ('99)

Cory and I met during my senior semester at UW-Stout. We still laugh about the fact that we met because I had recently started dating one of his roommates, but that quickly ended once I met Cory. I graduated about 4 months after we met, and I moved to Woodbury MN while Cory finished school and student teaching. Thankfully we continued dating during that period, and he obtained a job as a Technology Education teacher in the Woodbury school district in 1999. We now live in Hudson and have a son who was born in 2006, and another child due in May 2009. Thank goodness for UW-Stout!

Jesse Aalberg ('98) and Toni Sagehorn Aalberg ('98)

Although we met in high school, I proposed at Phalen Park in Menomonie and we were married half way through our last year at Stout. I started at Stout a year before Toni, but we ended up being in the same graduating class- 1998.

Carl Alleman ('98) and Lana Sorenson Alleman ('99)

Carl and Lana met the fall of 1995. Carl was an RA for 4th floor of Hovlid Hall when Lana was an incoming freshman. One of Lana’s neighbors was interested in Carl so she tried to play matchmaker. Turns out she wasn’t very good at it!

Karen Knopick ('98) and Brian Goodwin ('97)

We met our freshman year at the Vision Quest House. We actually lived on the same floor our first semester but didn't meet until second semester. I had moved to a different dorm second semester, so that was a bummer but we continued to date throughout college. Brian graduated in 1997 and myself in 1998. We were married in October of 1998 and have a beautiful daughter who was born in 2004.

Teri L Isaacson Larsen ('98) and Greg M Larsen ('01)

Greg and I met at Stout in late 1995. He was a student manager in the Student Center dining services, and I was a new employee. We started dating in March of 1996, and the rest is history! We were married in August 2000, and now have 2 children. Our son, Micah was born in 2003, and daughter Ayla came along in 2006. We make our home in Hammond, WI.

Kim Austin Lindner ('98) and Kevin Lindner ('96)

Kevin and I lived on the same floor in Wigen, my freshman year, his junior year. I was having a hard time with the whole college expreince. Kevin's buddy "Studman" was always on the girls side of the floor. "Studman" introduced us and we started hanging out. By the end of that school year we were practically inseperable. We got married in October of 1998, while I finished up my last semester. We have 2 beautiful girls and a handsome boy and still wildly in love! We have not talked to "Studman" in years, but would love to thank him for his "love connection".

Katie Kaiser Rolli ('98) and Mathew Rolli ('98)

Matthew and I had mutual friends. We didn't finally get together until our fourth year, graduation weekend actually. Good thing we took 5 years to earn our degrees. We spent every weekend together that first summer and racked up huge phone bills, as we lived 5 hours apart. We were inseparable once the school year started up again. I actually stayed in his dorm room for first quarter while I student taught. Matthew proposed the night before we graduated in May 1998 and we've lived happily-ever-after ever since. We have two beautiful children and beautiful memories of our days at UW-Stout.

Jill Opelt Fox ('99) and Tim Fox ('99)

Jill met Tim during Freshman orientation 1996. We were both on the orientation committees for the upcoming year and started hanging out the first night back in the dorms. First date was at Jake's Supper Club, and 2nd date was at the Acoustic Cafe. Been together for 10 years, married for 4 years, 1 child (so far!)

Dan Liedl ('99) and Tracy Thill Liedl ('99)

Dan and I met while we lived in the dorms. He lived in 4B and I lived in 4A. There was a large group of us that hung out together. Eventually, we started to date as a couple, and here we are, married for five years and together for nine years.

Dan Mertig (BS '99 , MS '01) and Tina Proeber Mertig ('01)

Dan and Tina met through a mutual friend in 1998. Tina was an RA at HKMC and Dan was an RA at North Hall. We spent many nights at the Flame, the Tap, and the Market and many mornings at the Buck. We were married in the Dells in 2001 and moved to Savannah, GA shortly after. In 2004 we had a precious little girl named Lily. Currently, Tina is a third grade teacher and Dan is a school counselor in sunny Savannah.
