Submitting Curriculum Items
Instructions for Submitting Curriculum Items to the CIC
Curriculum revisions must go through the Curriculum and Instruction Committee for approval, including new degree programs, new minors, specializations or concentrations, professional development certificates, new courses, and also any revisions or deletions of these items. Deans' offices submit one original and one electronic copy of each proposal to Tricia Aspen in the Provost's Office.
When preparing materials for submission, please note the following:
- All items are to be submitted to the Provost's Office through the Deans' offices. Submission deadlines are shown on the CIC Schedule. Contact Tricia Aspen in the Provost's Office if you have questions.
- Prior to presenting curriculum items to the CIC, approval from all other relevant committees is required. Changes from those committees must be included on the proposal submitted to the Provost's Office.
- When an item is included on the agenda for a particular meeting of the committee, the proposer or a substitute is expected to be at the meeting to explain and answer questions regarding the proposal.
- Materials submitted are for the Curriculum and Instruction Committee only. Materials might also be required for approval of AAAT, Graduate Education Committee, General Education Committee, department/college councils, and/or UW System Administration. They should be submitted separately or as appropriate for those approvals.
