The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences fosters a culture of excellence, collegiality and professionalism through demonstration of the following core values:

  • Excellence –Striving for excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
  • Diversity –Valuing diversity of people, ideas, practices and learning styles.
  • Relationships –Cultivating respectful relationships.
  • Collaboration –Promoting collaboration within and outside of the University.
  • Holistic –Fostering the growth, development and well-being of all people.
  • Learning –Facilitating active and applied learning.

It is the mission of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences to improve the well-being of individuals, families and society through teaching, scholarship and service. We consider our College something of the heart and soul of the University because several of our programs trace their roots back to the Founding of the Stout Manual Training School by Mr. James Huff Stout.

Our faculty and staff work to carry out the mission and values daily by being learner centered and collaborative with instruction. The commitment to teaching and learning is evident in the active and applied instruction that takes place each day in face-to-face as well as virtual environments. Students become engaged through problem solving, reflection and critical thinking in authentic settings early and throughout their academic career.

Our programs are career centered and focus on the application of scientific theory and research to genuine problems encountered by both local and global citizens. We strive to provide an education which will contribute to the growth of the Wisconsin economy, serve society and lead to purposeful and rewarding careers for graduates. Graduates enjoy a placement rate that is consistently above 93%.
