The Chancellor's Advisory Council is composed of leadership personnel from major units of the university. It exists to discuss and provide recommendations to the Chancellor on various matters of concern to the university, to maintain communication with/among all units of the university and to provide a forum for leadership personnel.
The following persons will serve on the Chancellor's Advisory Council by reason of their position:
The Council is advisory to the Chancellor, who will consider recommendations from the group for comprehensive all-university input in making decisions.
Chair: The chair will determine the agenda and preside at meetings.
Vice Chair: The vice chair will assume all duties of the chair in the latter's absence.
Secretary: The secretary will prepare minutes of each meeting and distribute them to the Council prior to the next meeting. The secretary will establish an official file of minutes and place policy statements in appropriate documents for information and retrieval.
Members: Each member is responsible for studying the agenda, being knowledgeable about the issues, and knowing the importance and impact of the issue to his/her unit. While clearly responsible for representing the views of their constituencies, members of the CAC are expected to report back to their units on the actions and discussions of the Council and serve as an advocate for its decisions. Members have the responsibility of acting as a team in an "all-university" sense on issues of importance to the institution as a whole.
Agenda Committee: An agenda committee comprised of 3-5 committee members (cabinet, Deans' council, a member from the remainder of the Council, and the Special Assistant to the Chancellor) will be responsible for making recommendations to the Chancellor for CAC agendas. The committee will provide their proposed agendas to the Chancellor's Office prior to the meeting date. Individuals who have items they wish to be considered for the agenda should submit them to the chair of the agenda committee. The committee will determine the number of items and time frames.
Meetings will be held on the first and third Monday of each month. Special meetings may be called by the chair.
