In the Quest for Excellence

The Malcolm Baldrige AwardUW-Stout is proud to be the first-ever higher education recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige Award.

In 2001, President George W. Bush visited campus to bestow this honor. During his speech, he said, "An organization needs a good idea and a good product or a good service. It certainly needs a good strategic plan. But more than anything, it needs good people -- men and women of integrity, who understand their duties to each other and to the public interest."

UW-Stout was specifically praised for our achievements in these important areas:

  • Leadership
  • Strategic planning
  • Information and analysis
  • Faculty and staff focus
  • Process management
  • Organizational performance results

We are proud to continue our pursuit of institutional excellence year after year in the spirit of Malcolm Baldrige.
