Why can't I logon?
There are several reasons you could be having trouble logging on to ILLiad:
- Perhaps you have entered your UW-Stout 7-digit ID number incorrectly.
- Your last name should be entered in lower case. Check the caps lock - it should not be on.
- If your last name includes Sr, Jr, III, hyphens, or you changed last name (ex: maiden vs. married, etc.), Library staff may need to verify your official UW-Stout last name as indicated in a database. Contact the Interlibrary Loan staff at either (715) 232-1112 or docdel@uwstout.edu or the Circulation Desk staff at (715) 232-1215. Indicate that you need Library staff to verify your UW-Stout last name.
- If you just activated your Stout ID, you may not yet be in our patron database. Contact the Interlibrary Loan staff at either (715) 232-1112 or docdel@uwstout.edu or the Circulation Desk staff at (715) 232-1215. Indicate that you need Library staff to verify that your ID is active in the Library's patron database.
- If you do not have a Stout ID number, call the Interlibrary Loan office (715)-232-1112.
- Did you press the button "Logon
to ILLiad" more than once? This slows the system down.

How do I Sign Up for Electronic Delivery?
You do not need to sign up. Electronic delivery is the UW-Stout University Library's delivery method for items instead of photocopies.
How Do I Know If My Computer Can Receive Electronic Articles?
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and configured to work with your Web browser in order to view, download, and print these articles. If you can read the sample page, your computer has the necessary software installed. If your computer indicates the file type is unknown and asks if you want to save the file to disk, then you need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
How Do I Get Adobe Acrobat Reader?
Acrobat Reader is available without charge from Adobe Systems, Inc. Click "Get Acrobat Reader" to go directly to the download page.
How Do I Get My Articles When They Arrive?
Library Interlibrary Loan staff will send an e-mail notification to your official UW-Stout e-mail account indicating that your article has arrived. Within the e-mail are instructions for connecting directly to your electronic article.
How Do I Know Which Requests Will Be Electronically Delivered?
Electronic delivery is Illiad's default for interlibrary loan items. Library Interlibrary Loan staff will send an e-mail notification for each item received. Whenever possible, your articles will be sent to you electronically.
What If I Do Not Want Electronic Delivery?
Electronic delivery is Illiad's default for interlibrary loan items. Paper copy will be provided upon request with the following charges to you: $1.00 for up to the first ten pages and an additional $1.00 for each additional 1-10 pages per electronic item. (pages1-10: $1.00; 1-20 pages: $2.00; 1-30: $3.00 etc). Contact the University Library's Interlibrary Loan at docdel@uwstout.edu or (715) 232-1112 if you are interested in this service.
What if I Have Problems With Electronic Delivery or Questions About It?
If you have difficulties retrieving your electronic document from the Library's web site after several attempts, contact Interlibrary Loan as soon as you can. Interlibrary Loan staff have access to your electronic document slightly longer than you do, and may be able to retrieve it for you.
If you mistakenly delete your electronic document, contact the Interlibrary Loan staff as quickly as possible after deleting your document. The best case scenario is it can be re-posted for you, so you can retrieve the item within a few minutes of your telephone call or receipt of your e-mail; the worst case scenario is that the item will have to be re-requested from the original lending library. Contact: Interlibrary Loan (715) 232-1112 or e-mail docdel@uwstout.edu

Why don't I see all my older requests when I look at my request history?
- From time to time we delete
older records from ILLiad. Our policy is to keep requests online
for several years in order to comply with record keeping requirements
of the copyright law.
What web browser should I use?
- You need a Web browser that can handle forms, tables, and, preferably, one that can handle frames. We recommend either Netscape 6, Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or Mozilla Firefox. You will also need Acrobat Reader 5 for article viewing.
Is security a problem if I use one of the Library's public workstations to submit a request?
- Yes. Web browsers cache information and create
a history file on the local workstation. This allows a subsequent
user of the workstation to access the system under your name using
the browser's Back button to recall a page from the cache, or
by finding a page with your personal information in the browser's
history file. If you are concerned about the security of your
interlibrary loan requests, you can take the following steps:
- Access ILLiad only from your personal computer or an otherwise secure workstation or
- When using a public access workstation
at the UW-Stout University Library:
- Logout of ILLiad.
- Exit from the Web browser before you leave the workstation.
- Logoff from the computer. This allows the Library's DriveShield software to reset the computer to a standard Library computer setting, erasing everything temporarily stored in the computer's cache or history file.
- When using a public access workstation
elsewhere:
- Delete from the history file those pages that contain your personal information.
- Exit from the Web browser before you leave the workstation. This prevents the Back button from accessing the pages you were using.

Why does my browser say that you are sending a cookie? What is in it?
- The Active Server Pages technology used
to provide live reporting for the web sends a Session ID to be
stored on your machine. You can refuse this cookie and still be
able to use the ILL web pages and ILLiad without any problems.
