[hidetoc]Electronic Course Materials Service
The Library's Electronic Course Materials staff will assist instructors with getting library, or personal, materials into electronic courses. These materials might include:
- full text articles from indexes
- print journal articles
- book chapters
- instructor produced materials
Copyright : All use of the electronic course materials must be in compliance with the U.S. Copyright Law and TEACH Act (Use of Copyrighted Works in Distance Education). Copyright compliance is the responsibility of the instructor using the materials, not the Library.
Print Materials
Library staff will scan a document, provide a pdf file, and assist in uploading to your electronic course resources folder.
- For articles listed in databases and identified as being located in the Library's Periodicals Collection, simply provide the database and citation.
- For book chapters and instructor-produced materials, provide a scannable document.
Full Text Articles From Databases Via "Persistent" Links
Make a direct link to an article in a library database. Three of the Library's subscription databases provide "persistent" links to full text articles. Using these links in your e-course means:
- students have immediate access to teacher-selected articles,
- the link will not change,
- necessary authenication code is built in for copyright compliance for Ebsco and WilsonWeb.
The links below provide screen-shots for identifying perisistent links in the databases and directions for creating links in D2L:
- EBSCOHost - Persistent link to this article (PermaLink)
- WilsonWeb - Persistent URL
- ProQuest - Durable link
[For ProQuest, you need to add this BEFORE the persistent link: http://ezproxy.lib.uwstout.edu:2048/login?url=
- Putting Database Articles in Your Learn@UW-Stout Courses Quick guide without screen-shots
When clicking on an article link in D2L, remote users will be prompted for their Stout email username and password. On campus students will have automatic authentication.
