| Set the Stout Library Catalog to search for theses |
1. From the Library Home Page, select Stout Library Catalog. 2. Click on the Set Limits button in the lower right corner. 3. From the Location menu, scroll down and select Thesis Collection. 4. Scroll down and click on the Set Limits button again; "Search Limits are in effect" appears at the top of the search screen. 5. Use the Keyword-Guided search, using keywords for the topic, an author's name, an advisor, type of thesis or a date of submission. |

Date: | Enter the year as a keyword, e.g. 2000 |
| Type: | For Plan A's or Plan B's, enter PlanA or PlanB as a keyword.(No spaces between) | |
| Author: | Enter author's last name as a keyword. If it is a common name, also enter the first name in this order, e.g. Smith Josephine. (last name first) |

| Advisor: | Enter the Advisor's name, e.g. Hector Cruz. (No need to enter last name first) | |
| Topic: | Enter keywords and/or key phrases, e.g. technology education, suicide prevention, substance abuse, etc. | |
| Search results and locating the thesis |
Prior to Dec. 1999 |
Theses submitted prior to December 1999 are on microfiche located in cabinets in the library's Reference Area. 1. Look at the bibliographic record to identify the call number 2. Go to the Reference Area microfiche cabinets. |

From 1998 | Theses submitted from 1998 on are available full-text on the web by a link in the Stout Library Catalog. 1. Click on the title in the results list. The title will include the phrase [computer file]. 2. Click on: Online version. This will initiate downloading the document in PDF format. |
NOTE: Your computer must have Adobe Reader to view the PDF documents. Library workstations already have it installed. If you are working from a computer that does not have Adobe Reader, you must have it installed to view the documents.
